EXP3: DEVELOPING THE BRIDGE

Taking the plan from Herzog and de Meuron and transferring that to my section, in order to reflect my theory I managed to develop my layout into a space that is pure geometric in which students and stuffs can fully engage with the beautiful environment of the valley. Adjacent spaces melt into each other, creating a connected, whole space yet still maintaining their own distinctive functions. The apexes of the organic and hard-edged shapes reflect the sense of the mountain in highland.

Generally, the bridge is composed by 6 parts, 1 sharp "organic" which is used to fix and support the bridge and 5 main "sheds" where people study and work.  Besides, each "sheds" have 3 rooms and 2 stories. 

 All of the main sheds have different levels of transparency. The level of transparency depends on the functions and properties of the space. Space such as lecture theatre, gallery, public spaces,  are the most transparent. And the meeting rooms are in the lowest level.  This transparent character allow people to engage with the stunning landscape and also link people to people between the ground floor and first floor. At the same time, we can take the advantage of sunlight's reflection of the white snow for lighting and warming up the space.

Design as a growing vine climbing a grid-shaped pergola that spreads through successive branches.

the overview in the morning____I expect that two monuments are built in a dry dusty rocky area. Because the hometowns of these two architects, Norma and Zaha, are like that. Basically,the combination of two monuments like a trunk or bright fits flush against the cliff. Norma's one is on the left hand side and Zaha's on the right. The meeting place is part of the Zaha's monument, at the end of it. 

the lighting effect___I reckon that Norma's design look simple from the perspective of modern people but stunning in the past. So I use different colors of lights to decorate the Norma's monument to make it outstanding at night and allow people to enjoy diverse views and feelings.  In term of Zaha, I think that most of her design have feminine character. So I use purple and white to display its shape .
